This is my first article about a country so beautiful, so peaceful, so complex and yet, so unknown to the World.
What do people know about my country? Some of the f0reigners that hear about Romania, think about three persons: Gica Hagi, Nadia Comaneci and Dracula, but I must say that Romania is more than that, Romania is a country so complex, that only few people dared to described it and nobody managed to say EVERYTHING it could be said about Romania.
On this blog, I want to talk about good things, good people, Romanian habits and customs, but especially Transylvanian people, customs, habits, foods and beverages.
For the start, I want to say that the famous “Count Dracula” is just a fake character that Bram Stoker invented in his book.
Actually, Romanians had a prince, who’s name was Vlad Tepes and who’s nickname was “Drăculea”. The father of Vlad Tepes was Vlad Dracul, the son of Mircea Cel Batran.
Vlad “Dracul” (the devil) was a Romanian prince, who received his nickname because he was part of a knights order, “The order of the Dragons” and he had a medallion that looked like a dragon and the peasants called him “the devil”.
Vlad Tepes (Draculea) received his nickname after his fathers and because of his conflictual relationships with the Transylvanian traders, they developed a story about him, giving him the reputation of an infamous, bloodthirsty prince.
Yes, he was cruel, yes, he was a little bit crazy, but no way, he was not a vampire and YES, HE WAS FAIR.
These are the first things you have to know about Romania !
See you later
